Biography
Edward 'Ned' McDarby (pictured in the middle) was baptised May 18th 1871 to parents William McDarby and Margaret Hennessy in the parish of Arles, diocese of Kildare & Leghlin, Co. Laois.
Edward moved to Scotland with Annie Murphy, they were married on September 4th 1900 in St. Mary's church in the parish of New Monkland, county of Lanark. Their address is Airdrie.
In the 1901 census they are at the address in Airdrie, also on form are Annie's Brother William, sister Eliza and Annie's daughter Eliza. Edward & Annie's daughter Kate is also listed. Edward's occupation is listed as coal miner.
In the 1911 census they are Residents of a house 48 in Doonane, Co. Laois with Annie and five of their children. Eliza is mistakenly listed as sister in law. Edward's occupation is listed as a coal miner, he was working at the nearby mine in Castlecomer. Here is a picture of Ned's Brick in the wall of remembrance at the miner's experience in Castlecomer.
They lived in Doonane until Edward died in November 14th 1849 aged 78. he is buried in the graveyard at Doonane, Co Laois. Here is a picture of the Headstone.
