Paul's Website

Welcome to My Online Family Tree

I started all this as a bit of fun, I also wanted to ensure that I gathered and retained data on my family for me and the future generations, I originally thought it would end at my great grandparents! The fact that no Irish census records really exist before 1901 made me think it was next to impossible to go back further.

I started where everybody should, I spoke to my parents who were both able to provide details of their parents, grandparents, Uncles and Aunts.

Just as I had that done the 1901 and 1911 census records became available. This led me to discover even greater detail about the people my parents had told me about.

Things went on the long finger for a bit, but thanks to this website some distant relations made contact and I got some more data which brought me back another generation.

Now that the parish records are available on line @ http://registers.nli.ie/ & the free goverment geanealogy website @ https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ I have gone even further back.

As of today, I have identified all eight great grandparents, all sixteen great great grandparent’s and twenty eight great great great grandparent’s (all the way back to the early 1800’s).

I’m guessing if you are reading this then you have googled a name and been brought here, if you realise that we are in fact related and want to get in touch, then contact me via e-mail @ hughy3of3@gmail.com If you have any photos of the people that make us related I would appreciate it if you could send me a scan so I can include it on this site, some background data on the person would be great too.

To use this site, click on the family tree link. you can then click on the names of the individuals, this will bring you to the person's page which will have a mini biography and and links on the left to the person's immediate family and their birth family.

Latest Updates: January 10th 2021:

The tree is probably as up to date as it will get, I don't expect to add any more people to it. It is too difficult to say for certain if you have identified the correct ancestor once you get past the year 1820 or so. This happens because of the lack of corroborating evidence, not to mention how many times names are used and reused by families in the 1800’s. I’m now moving my focus to collecting details for the bio’s of the people I have identified so far.
